Organizing your refrigerator should be your top priority. People like to overlook the idea of organizing food items properly until they start to go bad. You can leave an item in the refrigerator and not know it has gone bad because you didn’t keep record of it or arrange it properly.
This post will help you arrange your refrigerators and also give you great tips on how to care for your food items. You might think that organizing your refrigerator will be very stressful, which is true but these are great ways to make your journey very easy.
I’ve got more than enough tips you, these are great ways to make sure that you’re arranging those items properly. These are so many methods here, some are easy while some are quite difficult but you’ll surely find something that fits you. Without further ado, let’s check these lovely methods out.
1 use identical containers

Using identical containers is one of the biggest hacks when it comes to organizing. Each food category should have their own specific container so it’ll be easier to know the difference. I’ve used this method for a long time and I find it more convenient.
While it’ll be nice to have identical containers, you should also consider the transparent ones too. These transparent containers or bins are usually where the fruits are placed. There are so many ways you can utilize this method which makes it very versatile.
2 Arrange food in categories

The first thing to do is to arrange the food items in sections/ categories. If you’ve got a big enough refrigerator then you should have more than enough sections to separate different food items. This method makes it easier for other members of the family to navigate.
This is also great for easy access, imagine opening the refrigerator and you have to open up to three containers before you find what you’re looking for. This might not seem like a lot but you’ll love this method more when you’re in a hurry to prepare a meal.
3 use more bins

If you don’t have bins in mind then you should probably start making moves to that utilizing them, and in the right way too. Bins are the first things to consider when separating your food items, these small boxes contribute a lot to any arrangement.
One thing I love about bins is that they’re mostly transparent. When you use transparent bins, it makes it easier for you to recognize your items as soon a you open your refrigerator. These bins will save you the stress of constantly opening containers.
4 You can make it colorful

Some people arrange with the hope of keeping things in order while others arrange with the thought of creating another beautiful look. If you go to a grocery store, you’ll see how organized and colorful the items are, this is beyond regular arrangement but away to make the items look attractive.
You can use colored containers but transparent ones are just perfect. These transparent containers will let you showcase the colors of these items. If you look at the image closely you can see that that each section has different colors. This is the perfect rainbow setting and I love it.
5 make use of labels

Making use of labels is one of the first steps of making the perfect arrangement. When arranging, you don’t just think of now but also when you have to restock again, you don’t want it to be as challenging as the first time. Labels help you make sure that you don’t have to go through stress when arranging.
These labels are just too perfect, you’ll write your food name in containers, arrange them in different sections and you’re good to go. This is better than just placing your items in bins, this makes it easier for people who aren’t familiar with your arrangement to find their way around the kitchen.
6 keep kids in mind

Keeping kids in mind when arranging is one thing I see people neglect a lot and I just cannot stress how important it is that you keep your kids in mind. You can arrange your items in a way that suits you but I’ve you don’t keep others in mind, be ready to rearrange again because things will be placed anyhow.
Keep your kids snacks where it’s easily accessible to them and always teach them about your arrangement. Growing up, whenever my mom did a new setting, she’d always show us where to place each item so we don’t make a mess of things. This method has helped her for years.
7 label date of food items

Labeling your food items is a perfect way to know which item is from which category of food. Labeling the date you stored your leftovers in one hack people don’t know about. If you’ve made a sauce that you don’t think will last long then it’s best to label the date you made them.
I like to label the date of my leftover so i don’t forget them in the refrigerator. Ive seen a lot of people organize their refrigerators but I’ve not seen many people utilize this method. It’s an easy method that just involves placing stickers on container and writing dates.
8 make use of the door

The doors are often overlooked and people just place things however they like there but there’s so much you can do. The doors are often reserved for things that are not too heavy, drinks, spices and different types of sauce can be placed there.
The best way to make sure those items are arranged perfectly is to label them by section. Spices, drinks and your sauces should all be arranged different with labels on each section. This idea makes it easier when you’re trying to restock your items.
9 place fruits in drawers

Most people will prefer dividing their items into different sections as it makes it very easy to identify. While you’re free to arrange them where ever you like, some items need to be in specific places. Fruits should not just be placed anywhere but should have a specific position.
The drawer is a great place to keep these fruits as they tend to have bigger spaces there. You can put your veggies one side and fruits on the other. This method is a lot better than just arranging them randomly.
10 use bottles instead of plastic

Most people love their plastic containers which is very useful and it’s a method that has been working for years so there shouldn’t be any need for change. Bottles on the other hand are perfect for some items, there are items that you’ll need them in bottles.
Homemade sauces and harps are items that you’ll want to use bottles for. I’ve tried using plastics for homemade sauces but for some reason, it doesn’t taste as it did when I was using tightly sealed bottles.
11 use your own packaging

While it’s nice to use the containers that come with your food items, it might not be a good idea. Some of these containers will get crushed easily when you start to place items on them. some containers aren’t even made to be kept in refrigerators.
Using your own containers makes it very easy to identify food items and also preserve them. It’s be very easy for you to stack food items on each other because your containers will be stronger than the ones from the grocery stores.
12 use clear containers

When you’re getting started with your item organization, you might think getting those colorful and aesthetically pleasing containers would be the best choice. Those colorful containers will help make your items look nice and well arranged but it might come at a cost.
Using colorful containers will make it hard to identify food items that are going bad or even food items in general. Transparent packaging on the other hand, makes it very easy to identify your items and if anyone is going bad, it’ll be very easy to spot.
13 Don’t change much if you don’t want to

It’s always a good idea to remove food items from their original containers as this helps create the perfect setup, but what if you don’t want to? Some people like to leave their items in the containers they came with for better identification.
I like to leave drinks in their original containers but I still use bins for my fruits and vegetables and also small containers for leftovers. You can always use the original containers but be sure to inspect the containers properly as most products containers aren’t great for stacking.
14 keep leftover up

The upper parts of the refrigerator is the coldest so it makes sense to keep the items that are likely to go bad in that are. I’ve seen people place their leftovers anywhere and start to complain if it doesn’t last as long as they expect them to.
You have to identify your fruits, leftovers or even homemade sauces for which is likely to go bad before you begin your stacking. This is a method most people utilize so you’re missing out if you aren’t trying this.
15 Right and left section

More than 90 percent of people who arrange their items do it from up to down, this is a very good ideas and it’s a method that works for most people. However, trying a different style might be more convenient for you.
This left to right method allows you to place some items on the left side and others on the right as opposed to placing them from the top to bottom as most people would. It doesn’t make much difference actually.
I really loved all the ideas here. while I utilize most of the idea here, it was also nice to find new ways to organize and stock food items.
